It is only a short drive from the city centre making the Yarra Valley a must-visit in Melbourne day excursions. Rolling hills are covered in vineyards, cow pastures, healthful food, and a charming, rural atmosphere. There are hundreds of excellent, well-known vineyards to visit, and is considerably less expensive than you might imagine! Additionally, the area is so stunning that it’s worth a visit even if you don’t drink much.

TarraWarra Estate should definitely be on your Yarra hit list. It has its own art gallery and restaurant on site, an INR 415.85 wine sampling option, and the views from the hilltop winery are just breathtaking! Otherwise, Yering Station is a local favourite and offers complimentary wine tastings for groups under 10 people. Also, make sure you get a decent lunch in the Gladysdale Bakehouse for brunch and affordable baked goodies, and the Yarra Valley Dairy is a must for any cheese lovers.

If you’ve got the time, maybe pop by Healesville Sanctuary to meet some Aussie wildlife, from koalas to kangaroos to platypus and wombats. The perfect bit of tourism for any international student studying in Melbourne!
